Morning, I hope you are all having a great week.  I’ve been seeing a lot of mermaid parties recently and so I thought I would share with you some ideas to help you plan a beautiful mermaid party.  Whilst mermaids may make you think of the Disney movie ‘Little Mermaid’ you don’t have to use the Disney princess in your party theme.  I think aqua and pale seagreen make for a great palette for a mermaid party and you could also add a splash of coral.  Dress tables in aqua and seagreen tulle, with a sprinkling of sand, a scattering of shells and your mermaids will have a wonderful party tea.  Cakes can be topped with card cut into fish and starfish shapes or maybe shells made with fondant icing, with a sprinkling of brown sugar to look like sand.  Cookies in shell or fish shapes iced with aqua or blue icing and snadwiches could be made using cookie cutters in similar shapes.  Perhaps if the party is for older children you could serve sushi or for younger children homemade fishfingers would be a perfect party tea.
Love this dessert table on Kara’s Party Ideas.
The pompoms above the dessert table seem to be made with tulle instead of tissue paper but either would look fantastic.
I love all of the details in this mermaid party from Kate Landers Events
The birthday girl will need a Queen of the Sea Crown.

Top the birthday cake with this custom number cake topper
Make garlands or necklaces with these tiny shell beads from Dans & Brandi
These jellyfish would make great decorations for a mermaid party or the children could make them as an activity.  For the full tutorial visit Scrapbooks etc.
Some fab ideas from One Charming Party for mermaid themed party games.  Of course you can play these games without a beach, they would work just as well in your garden, a village hall or your house.
I hope todays ideas will help with your mermaid party planning and be sure to share your parties with us (submission details can be found here).
Have a lovely day,
Zoe
