As party planners, we are often on the look out for special locations that really catch our eye. The Garden Room caught our attention very quickly, not least for it being in the centre of one of our favourite city days out – London Zoo.
Wether your child is a fan of tigers, penguins, or snakes, London Zoo has a great deal to offer. With a huge range of animals from pygmy hippos to fruit bats, and a plethora of stunning walk through exhibits and educational centres, they really do have animal lovers covered.
The Garden Room is an exclusive private event space that is perfect for intimate Birthday Parties – The location boasts a great deal of natural sunlight, and overlooks an outdoor patio and ZSL’s member’s lawn.
We chatted with London Zoo events co-ordinator Ffion about how much she loves working at the zoo, and how The Garden Room would be the perfect location for any little one’s birthday party.
Hi Ffion! It must be an incredible job working at London Zoo! What on earth do you love most?
I enjoy being part of the zoo and its programme of conservation, breeding and education. Education starts at an early age, and having the opportunity to introduce the subject of animals and their welfare to children particularly appeals to me. It’s truly a privilege to be involved in the zoo’s work and to encourage others to support the international conservation and protection of endangered species… and I get to see penguins everyday.
We have come across some incredible venues in our time, can you explain to our readers just what makes a party at ‘The Garden Room’ truly special?
It is within a 30 second walk from a private entrance and a two minute walk away from ZSL London Zoo’s carousel and face painters. The venue feels completely private, yet is set within the heart of the zoo.
A lot of our clients host larger parties, and are looking for truly beautiful spaces. Could you tell us more about what features and facilities The Garden Room supplies, and let us know how many people it could accommodate?
We have the ability to accommodate up to 50 guests. The floor to ceiling windows, outdoor patio and member’s lawn make this perfect room to host an intimate occasion for family and friends.
Many of our birthday boys and girls are keen to get hands on – Is there a way to involve animals at The Garden Room?
Our animal encounters are a great addition to any event held here at ZSL London Zoo. They can be brought to the door or inside the Garden Room, and it’s a great way for the children to interact with the zoo and its residents. Lasting between 20-30 minutes, each encounter includes an animal of your choice from our available encounters along with their keeper, ready to answer any questions you may have.
What are some of the most inspiring party themes and finishing touches you have seen at ‘The Garden Room’?
The Garden Room is a fantastic space for theming as it’s a blank canvas. We have had wonderful jungle themes in the past, complete with life size lion models and handmade vines attached to the walls. Picnic style birthday parties are also very popular, the sandwiches and the yummy treats arrive on miniature picnic benches.
JUNGLE THEMED PARTIES
Jungle themed parties are a very popular choice for boys and girls – we have lots of experience with both hand made vines and life size lions believe it or not!
Wether you want to deck the space out with beautiful paper palm leaves, grassy decoupage balloons, or circus animal place holders, here at Les Enfants, we have you covered. Our goal is to create a true adventure for party visitors.
To do so, we focus on every small detail, having constructed and used intricate sweetie tables decked with zoo animal cake pops, real palm leaves, whimsical plastic animals dressed in tiny party hats and cutlery tied with hessian and animal print fabric.
It is important to us that every child’s birthday party is decorated beautifully and tastefully – in a style that will suit photographs perfectly, and impress guests of every age, child and adult alike. In the past we have even supplied safari party hats and hand made animal print pin wheels to every guest to get the adventure started.
