This week we are celebrating another of our absolute favourite boutique kid’s fashion brands – Wolf & Rita. If you haven’t checked out our their SS17 collection yet, “Oh A La Bourgeois”, boy are you in for a surprise.
If you, like us, are fans of whimsical prints, strong tailoring and high quality materials, Wolf & Rita will become a new, firm favourite.
The inspiration behind the Portuguese brand was driven by a 30 year family history in shirt construction – sisters Sonia and Claudia Rocha decided to combine this rich heritage with their passion for quality, and designed a brand dedicated to children.
The whole campaign is very much a family collaboration. The sisters design the garments, Sonia’s husband Carlos Lobo photographs their lookbooks, and the very brand name, ‘Wolf & Rita’ is a nod to Sonia’s family, Wolf – the English translation of her husband’s surname Lobo, and Rita, her daughter’s name.
Since their launch in 2012, the brand has gone from strength to strength, with regular press features in popular kids magazines such as Milk and Papier Mache, and a number of prestigious awards, including ‘Rising Star’ from kid’s trade show Bubble London. Once one has looked through a number of their fantastic collections, it is easy to see where this attention stems from.
Their current SS17 line, “Oh A La Bourgeois”, pays homage to great French – American artist Louise Bourgeois. Inspired by the artist’s vast range of work, including her large scale sculptures and installation art, the collection is a heart felt tribute.
With stunning, watercolour prints inspired by Bourgeois’ own paintings, charming stitched letter work and indigo mountain motifs, the collection is a treasure chest of pieces, from dresses to trousers.
Even better news, this collection isn’t limited to children! Wolf & Rita also design for men and women, so you can deck the entire family in their genius prints and patterns. The brand also provide a wonderful range of accessories, including socks, back packs and swimwear, and gorgeous onesies and nappy covers for babies too. As we said, it truly is a one stop shop.
It was a tough call, but our Les Enfants favourite has to be the stunning mountain print trousers. With their on-trend paper bag waist, long belt and indigo colouring, there is a lot to love! We also have to shout out to these fabulous printed overalls, gorgeously slouchy burgundy, stitch letter sweatshirt, and, from their men’s collection, this stunning asymmetric denim jacket.
