Back to School!
Somehow it’s September, we are not quite sure where the Summer holidays went, and the kids are packed up to go back to school. We have fond memories of Septembers long past spent buying new backpacks, sorting through scented gel pens and updating our uniforms.
Here we have popped together our favourite back to school purchases, from the perfect school shoes to the essential winter coat.
If you are looking for fantastic quality, British heritage design and that super shiny patent finish, look no further! Young Soles is where it is at. With a fantastic range of high shine t-bar shoes for girls, and beautifully detailed brogues for boys (and girls too, why not?), the only struggle you will have is deciding on which shoe exactly to purchase.
These shoes are designed in East London, made in Europe, and built to last. They are constructed with soft, supple leather and their style draws inspiration from fond childhood memories. It’s not just school shoes the brand offers either, there are some amazing boots with gorgeous Liberty print laces. Check out Young Soles amazing new Autumn/Winter collection here.
We are huge fans of gorgeous stationary brand kikki. K, who stock a fantastic range of pens, pencil cases, notebooks, planners, the works. Their beautiful notebooks are filled with sweet graphics that will inspire your kids to use them day in, day out. We love this a5 number, with it’s pastel pink cover and neon grid detailing.
Whilst you are shopping for the children, don’t forget to treat yourself. kikki K have just released a wonderful range of Vision board materials and ‘Mindfulness’ planners that help you plot out your goals and aspirations whilst keeping track of your health and wellbeing.
As you might expect from a brand as high end as Bonpoint, they have released a back to school inspired collection for boys and girls, and oh my goodness is it breathtaking. Think grey marl button up coats, cashmere gloves, ribbed socks and diamante sprinkled berets.
And it is not just beautifully executed clothing Bonpoint is offering! They have also released a stunning collection of backpacks and satchels, in heritage tartan and complete with monogramming. We also adore their red edelweiss brooch, pinned on a gorgeous navy coat to add some colour. You know what, just go to their store and browse everything, you really won’t be disappointed.
Whilst on the topic of backpacks, if you are on a little bit of a tighter budget but are looking for a well made bag that will last your child throughout the whole school year, and won’t hurt quite so much if their biro explodes, Herschel are your company.
The brand have released a great new ‘Youth’ range that features their classic designs in smaller sizes and fun prints, including stripes, spots, and our personal favourite, eggs and bacon. Why not? The brand offer a range of vintage inspired fold over satchels too, with zippers and pockets to keep your kids organised.
Yumbox lunchboxes have won countless awards from The Independent, BBC Good Food and Little London, and it is not hard see why. With their clever compartmental design you can pack both humous and crackers for your little one without worrying about it all turning into a soggy mess.
The lunchboxes come in a great range of bright colours, and have exciting printed linings such as circus animals and vehicles. There are even portion control guides sat under the compartments that advise you as to which area to pack which component, wether it be dairy, fruit, vegetables or treats.
Need to speed up the daily school run? Have some help with Micro Scooters. The brand offers scooters to cater for the whole family, from your toddler (with a three in one scooter that allows your child to sit whilst pushing along), to yourself!
Micro Scooters even offers a fully customisable service where you can pick the colour of each element of your scooter and add accessories such as a bell, light and name plate. They also offer a great range of carry bags for the scooters as, at some point, we all know that Hugo or Amelia is going to get tired and want a lift on the mummy or daddy mobile.
Is it just us, or do socks disappear over the summer holidays? We don’t know where they wander off to (perhaps to cooler climates), but by September we seem to have a seriously depleted stock. Check out these beauties by Louise Misha. They come in four gorgeous colours and are currently on sale.
And, when winter really kicks in, have your girls keep their knees warm with these pom pom goodies. We aren’t sure wether they will fit in with more stricter uniform codes, but hey, maybe for casual Friday?
And finally, just to make sure you definitely have not forgotten anything obvious, make sure to write a list! It is easy to fall out of practise after six weeks of summer holidays. Good House Keeping have popped together a great range of lists for all ages right here.
Well, we think that is pretty much it! You are covered. Bring on the new school year, and all the wonderful things that come along with it, Bonfire Night, Halloween, mulled wine, and mulled wine. Did we mention mulled wine?
